Notice of Closure of Nominations for Executive Directors

September 3, 2020

In accordance with our bylaws, nominations for election to the Board and a declaration from an incumbent director that he or she intends to stand for re-election must be received by the returning officer by September 1 of each year.  Nominations for election to the Board may be made from the floor only if a position is or will become vacant, there have been no nominations for such vacant position and the incumbent has not declared an intention to run again for that position.

As of September 1, 2020 the incumbent Vice-President and Secretary have both declared their intention to run for those positions again, and no other nominations for those positions have been put forward.  Accordingly, Scott Eckardt has been acclaimed as Vice-president and Les Maerov has been acclaimed as Secretary, both for a term of 2 years. The BCBUA BOD thanks both Les and Scott for their dedicated service and welcomes them back for another term!

Elections for area representatives for even numbered areas (2, 4, 6, and 8) will take place at the annual general meeting. For information on cities located within each area, please click here.

Due to the mid-term retirement of Bill MacMillan as Area Representative for Area 8 - Kootenays, the board has filled that vacancy with the appointment of Darcy Rysz, whose term of office will expire at the next annual general meeting.  He will be eligible to run for that position again for the next term. The BCBUA BOD expresses immense thanks to Bill for the many years of wisdom and experience he has brought to the board, and welcomes Darcy back to the board as a valued member of our team.

The BCBUA AGM will take place in a virtual format on Wednesday, November 25th. Meeting process and details, as well as login information will be provided to members closer to the date.
