BCBUA Committees

Dear BCBUA Members,

I Hope everyone is enjoying the end of another baseball season.  It was a fantastic one at that.  Our members keep knocking it out of the park with their commitment to their game.

I am writing today as the President of the BCBUA seeking volunteers to sit on numerous BCBUA committees. These committees remain vitally important to our work and have grown the quality and abilities of our umpires exponentially.  It has also had a positive impact on our relationships with our partner organizations.  We want to keep the momentum going.

The committees that the BCBUA has are listed below with a brief explanation of each.

Education Committee
Responsibilities include:

• BCBUA clinic content
• Coordinating Level III, Super Clinics & All Women’s clinic
• Delivery of Level I & II online portion

Ejections/Incidents Committee
Responsibilities Include:

• immediate review of BCBUA Ejection/Incident Reports
• Act as liaison between partner Association, BCBUA and game umpire(s)
• Provide umpire(s) game management tips, report writing tips, etc as reports are received.

Contracts Committee
Responsibilities include:

• all partner league contracts with BCBUA.
• This includes provincials and league play.

Provincials Committee
Responsibilities include:

• Managing provincials’ application process
• Reviewing applicants
• Working with Provincial Supervisor on assignments
• Ensuring a fair, equitable and transparent process is maintained

UIC Development Committee
Responsibilities include:

• Maintaining the UIC development manual and updating and enhancing it as required.
• Working with partner associations who have local UIC’s in need of training
• Provide training opportunities for new or returning UIC’s

Safe Sport Committee
Responsibilities Include:

• Review and updating of Safe Sport policies on a yearly basis
• Offer recommendations to BCBUA BOD on gaps or areas the BCBUA and partner associations could be better to reduce risks

Social Media Committee
Responsibilities Include:

• Maintain an active presence on social media
• Receive and post BCBUA news, photos etc, to keep membership engaged
• Develop a strategy to improve our online/connectivity with our membership and partners

BCBUA Budget Committee
Responsibilities include:

• Support the BCBUA Treasurer in establishing a yearly budget
• Make recommendations to the BCBUA BOD on opportunities and risks

Mentorship Committee
Responsibilities Include:

• Establishing a mentorship strategy for the BCBUA
• Update mentorship guides/documents to keep current
• Seek opportunities for mentorship at major tournaments across the province
• Maintain a list of active mentors for the BCBUA

Awards Committee
Responsibilities Include:

• Coordinate and maintain the BCUBA awards
• Put a call for nominations for the awards
• Select the winners and have the chair announce at the AGM

Database Training Committee
Responsibilities include:

• Establish a training program to ensure transition to new database is seamless
• Establish a train the trainer program
• Train new people in the use of the database, such as scheduling, etc.
